If you hit, up to 6 (assuming RCL 1) do, but no more. Then repeat on the next hex. Thus, ~one third of the guys drop at random.

Even if you did roll once per bullet (ROF 1 +ATR99?), I think you'd need to get to -10x HP on each guy in line before he stopped providing cover for the next one, since you can't get 100 humans to fall down sequentially in one second.

There's a rules niggle there - if you "knock someone down," when are they on the ground, RAW?martinlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14046036634336503492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-69413080065573405372013-07-19T16:03:17.772-04:002013-07-19T16:03:17.772-04:00Probability theory says you have a 99% chance of s...Probability theory says you have a 99% chance of scoring a dodgeable hit on at least one guy in a line of 6. And assuming the guys can also Dodge on a 9-, there's a 99% chance that one guy out of every 6 that try to dodge is going to be hit. The chance of any given bullet not hitting someone within the first 25 guys or so is basically 0.

So that RoF100 gun is going to kill just about everyone in that line. I'd have to run some monte carlo simulations and I'm not that interested, but I'm guessing there's 1-2 survivors. (Last 3 bullets have at least 6 effective targets and someone is getting hit but might dodge; the chance of the last 3 bullets each hitting one guy and him dodging is some complicated combinatorics formula I can't remmber but the very last guy alive has a ~75% chance of either not getting hit or dodging the very last bullet so his chances of survival are pretty good.)Mark Langsdorfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00301984145275679568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-5494293667531327012013-07-19T11:10:09.631-04:002013-07-19T11:10:09.631-04:00A good post, one I couldn't write well, would ...A good post, one I couldn't write well, would be an examination of ROF and "hitting the wrong target" and the area fire rules. I think people choose "Supressive Fire" and that's not what you want to choose. You want to hose across your targets and let the hitting the wrong target rules let you clip the people who are behind them.Peter Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14246000382321978462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-21056892872468456542013-07-19T10:19:18.004-04:002013-07-19T10:19:18.004-04:00Now I have an odd urge to model up what happens wh...Now I have an odd urge to model up what happens when you fire a ROF 100 support weapon (~1 hit takedown) down a line of 100 guys with a 9+ total to hit roll. I *THINK* ~37.5% of them are going to drop at random...

At least, as long as your roll to hit the last guy is at least 9 and none past the first few realize they need to dodge.martinlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14046036634336503492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-76479989172451478182013-07-18T22:37:41.593-04:002013-07-18T22:37:41.593-04:00Very good observation. The rest have to go somewhere . . .
