Slow monster...You're the first to bring it up.

Slow monsters aren't really a threat - the PCs back off, shoot them up with zero-cost magic and free Cornucopia Quiver arrows, and then back off again. So I don't set out to make especially slow monsters. Solid DX, solid HT tree-monsters just end up with solid move, too, and I saw no reason to lower that either for game reasons or thematic reasons.Peter Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14246000382321978462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-74275761575842967102019-10-23T20:54:56.154-04:002019-10-23T20:54:56.154-04:00Was this just to cause terror and amplify a horror...Was this just to cause terror and amplify a horror theme? How did you envision/explain really fast moving trees? Didn't your players comment on their alacrity?Alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02295722892051701176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-73248920263175526242019-10-23T19:12:24.304-04:002019-10-23T19:12:24.304-04:00The trees weren't remotely slow. They had Move 7 (man-sized ones) and Move 10 (small sized ones) . . . most of the PCs have a base move of 6 but encumbrance drops them to 3-4.Peter Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14246000382321978462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-89922547469771793562019-10-22T11:50:22.463-04:002019-10-22T11:50:22.463-04:00Are the PCs really slow for some reason and if so ...Are the PCs really slow for some reason and if so what reason? Or were the trees unnaturally fast? I picture (and every game statistic I've seen in a couple different RPGs supports) animated trees and tree-monsters being particularly slow compared to bipeds. But in your recounting the PCs had to put everything they had into fleeing at full speed just to maintain distance from the pursuing trees. That sounds like either super-fast trees or super-slow PCs.Alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02295722892051701176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-24885378596802768542019-10-09T21:36:40.362-04:002019-10-09T21:36:40.362-04:00Even in the dream, he had it coming.Even in the dream, he had it coming.Peter Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14246000382321978462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-13867575023600627862019-10-09T03:56:47.269-04:002019-10-09T03:56:47.269-04:00As horrid as it was, I find it amusing that Galen,...As horrid as it was, I find it amusing that Galen, of all the people, had nightmares about having his eyes poked, considering his fighting style.Gnomaszhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01407558958393206886noreply@blogger.com
