I have to say that the "deep thoughts" posts are pretty important. Growing up with sort of an "anything but D&D" type attitude, I would *never* have thought to pursue a "old D&D versions are not broken" line of thought.

Granted, the original books do not contain the sort of insight and commentary that would make them understandable to the uninitiated. But the fact that people understand and articulate what seems to me to be impossible things, I personally find captivating.

Also... it is interesting to see people argue about whether it "all went wrong" with the thief or with the cleric-- especially since Steve Jackson immediately excised both "classes" from The Fantasy Trip.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-66858663834229327322013-03-13T13:23:43.081-04:002013-03-13T13:23:43.081-04:00The dirty trick and the beat are for my player rea...The dirty trick and the beat are for my player real tactical opportunities. Although we play fantasy-style GURPS, their PCs' character points are mainly on non-combat skills. The MA feint variants are potentially hilarious, and hopefully quite useful in real play. bongotastichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06403616300118528548noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817710432110712270.post-92072498999539490912013-03-13T11:16:38.998-04:002013-03-13T11:16:38.998-04:00Thanks for the link. I think those are the only cutting/impaling weapons that changed damage amounts.
