Merging Weapon Skills, another take

I like this take on merging weapon skills for GURPS:

  1. I once went all-out and ran a game with the following melee skills:
    one-handed swing
    one-handed thrust
    two-handed swing
    two-handed thrust
    brawling
    grappling
    shield

    I had flails, whips, and the like as techniques starting at -2 (I don't recall anyone using one though). The four melee weapon skills defaulted to each other at -3 if they shared either handedness or impact vector and -5 otherwise. It worked fine.

    1. So two skills for most swords? I'm not saying it wouldn't work, I'm just saying, it feels odd cost-wise.

  2. Octopus Carnival's ideas are pretty good as well, but I still like Flail as a separate skill, I think.

  3. Yeah, that's how it panned out. You want versatility, you pay for it. And a katana master needs four skills! :D
