It's not my kind of setting, I'm not a big alternate-history kind of gamer. But it might be yours!
It also is a chance to get the new GURPS 4th Edition Revised - a combined volume of the two Basic Set books plus some additional material. I don't really feel a need for it, as I'm not planning on doing any GURPS writing at this point. But it might be worth getting in just to get that.
I totally get why they’re combining it, but I really wish the revised basic set was a standalone. Kinda stinks to pay $120 for one hardcover you want and another that you have no interest in.
ReplyDeleteIs it possible to pledge, say, $1, and then when the campaign closes add $79 and get just the Basic Set as your reward?
DeleteKind of in the same boat. I *do* go in for historical stuff, but there's something about "Lord Kalvan Meets the 30 Years War" which just doesn't grab me. That said, I've had an advance look at 4e revised, and the two-column layout is vastly easier to read. Highly recommended.
ReplyDeleteI'll get it at some point when it's available without getting Ring of Fire. $120 is a steep pricetag for Basic Set. And a book I won't use.
DeleteMaybe I'll turn out to be wrong, and it was the best deal I'd see . . . but I'll bet on the later purchase.
Would only be worth it if it would be cheaper than the 4th Edition standalone. Does anyone know whether the 4ER will be a Kickstarter or just made available on W23 to purchase directly? And if the latter, what will the cost be?
