There are a few bloggers running GURPS fantasy games out there.
I am running my own, of course, and it's heavily AD&D/Rolemaster influenced. I'm going with pretty strict templates, the more gritty rules, and an emphasis on scarcity of goods and slow growth of personal power. I'm also running a megadungeon.
But I'm not alone.
Here are the ones I know of, in no particular order. Characterizations and descriptions are mine, and so are any errors in them.
Mark Langsdorf is running Savage Tides with GURPS. They're using cinematic rules like Wildcard skills (i.e. replacing the knight's various skills with Knight! - a one-skill solution).
Patrick Halter is running Temple of Elemental Evil with GURPS, in a very standard DF-style way but with lower point characters than I do. PCs are (for now) raiding the moathouse, but the temple looms on the horizon as a campaign tent-post megadungeon.
Ken Harrison is playing in Robert Conley's Majestic Wilderlands in a GURPS game. Here's a sample session report.
Christian Blouin is running a GURPS game set in Middle-Earth.
Grouchy Chris is running a GURPS game where the PCs are in a traveling circus - here's a session summary.
Douglas Cole is playing in DF Jade Regeant, and occasionally posts summaries.
Am I missing any GURPS blogs with session summaries? If so, let me know and I'll go and read them.

+Douglas Cole has actual play reports from Nate Joy's online DF game using the Jade Regent Adventure Path. The reports are rather sporadic - he doesn't always post when we play.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Doug. He keeps posting on Pathfinder so I forgot. Added!
DeleteThe play reports are an interesting thing...I think I'll talk about that some more. :-)
Delete+Jason Woolard posts his reports on G+. His last post was yesterday and is close to the top of the community feed.
ReplyDeleteI meant Woollard, sorry Jason.
DeleteForgiven. Thanks.
DeleteI'll have to figure out how to follow them on my blog.
DeleteGoogle+ is nice, but if you post something and I miss it by an hour or two, it's basically gone to me. I can't easily find it later and I probably don't even know it happened. Blogs are easier, because I can check the archives and see what I missed.
yea, ive contenplated moving all the campaign reports to a blog after they are done, but that seems like a lot of work
DeleteJust start a new blog on blogger, cut and paste. Or link your blogger to G+ and just summarize on the blog. It would make them easier to come back to later for the rest of us, at least!
DeleteI'm part of +Michael Keenan's DF game which is found here in Roll20 https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/3946/gurps-df-adventurers-and-adversaries
ReplyDeletehe is at my 1pm GMT+8
I get "not authorized" if I log in, and a login screen if I don't. Are there open summaries somewhere?
Deletehttps://plus.google.com/u/0/112459836454616899177/posts/dWscyq9WMTw he posted the summary in DF community
DeleteMy sole complaint about your list is that it is so short. I am already reading all of them!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it makes me sad too. I think there are more people running GURPS fantasy games, so I'd like to get them all connecting to each other.
DeleteYeah, but...consider how many of these blogs are brand new. Mark Langsdorf, Christian Blouin, and I just started this year, Douglas Cole and Patrick Halter started in December, and Ken Harrison started posting regularly in December. It looks to me like there's been an explosion in GURPS-related blogs lately, and I'm pretty excited about it.
DeleteI like how we feed off of each other. I started mine following Peter's example, though initially I wondered if I'd have a lot to say (I don't wonder anymore). I think as we each realized that all of these thoughts were interesting and led to discussion and better games, we got a chain reaction going, and it's been a pretty virtuous circle.
DeleteAnd I joined the ranks, what, just in February, and didn't get around to regular posting until what, a few days ago. I blame the G+ GURPS community for getting me to do it, that and all of your fine blogs. I one day have some hopes of posting some actual play reports after, I, you know, actually play.
DeleteI know that the decision to start mine stemmed from a) this blog and b) the idea that if I had a blog I committed to updating regularly, I'd be forced to continue regular preparation for the game, so I had things to talk about.
DeleteB) is working out half-heartedly.
I know a lot are new, but there must be a few more out there.
Deletehttp://treesandcaves.blogspot.com/ A GURPS campaign been running for a little over a year. Going to try and start blogging on a regular basis. we'll see what happens. More narrative than technical.
ReplyDelete(Sorry if this is a double post. Still getting the hang of this.)
I've added you to my blog roll and I'll edit it in above.
DeleteAs a GURPS newbie, I find all of your blogs particularly helpful.
ReplyDeleteOk I've got the blog ball rolling. I set up a blogspot for my GURPS campaigns and will start putting summaries up, hopefully one per day until I get all caught up. check it out Dark Paths and Wandered Roads:

I've linked it on my blogroll and I'll update to include it above. Thanks!
Deletethank you very much. And strictly speaking, my campaign isn't DF, though I use a lot of DF options. Thanks again!
DeleteI don't know if this counts especially because it will be about two months or so before i will have actual session reports up. And while it will be a GURPS fantasy game and have lots of Dungeons in it the templates will be different.
ReplyDeleteBut here is is anyway: http://mmopbang.blogspot.com/
i actually don't have anything up about my Campaign up yet.
But i should have some up before the end of the weekend.
Awesome. Added above and on the blogroll.
DeleteOwing much to your inspiration, Peter, I have started a wordpress blog to elaborate what is going on in my rpol.net game of three years here: https://gwythaintny.wordpress.com/
