No more Hide GM Rolls?

We played our most recent session of Felltower with the latest version of Foundry . . . but unfortunately, the excellent Hide GM Rolls module didn't work.

So we couldn't roll Blind or GM rolls. Everything was visible. I ended up rolling dice on my desk and manually inputting the numbers.

Anyone have a suggested replacement?

  1. Consider rolling in the open to see how you like it. I am just over a year into running our bi-weekly campaign where I roll everything in the open. This was something we agreed to try in the session 0 and everyone seems to really like it.

    1. I really, really hate it. Way, way to easy to back-derive stats, fine-tune spell buffs, and otherwise meta-game battles when you know the skill, damage rolls, defenses, etc. of your opponents. And then Will, HT, and advantages based on the rolls.

That might work for some games, it's a no-go for this one.

  2. As the GM, can't you just designate the roll as private?

    1. That doesn't seem to work with the character sheet rolls, taskbar rolls, etc.

  3. The development team discovered an error that was plaguing Dice So Nice and a few other things, and they speculate that a new way of doing chat stuff in Foundry v12 borked some of this. I don't know if it's going to be a quick or easy fix, but the last note I saw from one of the team seemed optimistic about the original problem, and they thought it might fix the GM roll thing as a drive-by.

We shall wait, hope, and see.

    1. Fingers crossed! We've got a bit of time before we need to use the VTT again so hopefully it gets sorted in the meantime.
