Session Cleanup

Lots to do before our next session.

- I need to go through the VTT and check each and every NPC in the fight for their status so I can update the roster. It was easier back in the pen and paper days, honestly.

- I need to delete the thorkers and re-enter them. I may have to make them up in GCS, which is annoying as can be, so they can properly get their advantages into the system.

- I need to delete the Gith Axemen and re-enter them. Somehow, despite having equipment and DR, their DR shows up as 0 when they're actually hit. It's wrong. My players love this, and I get at least comment per session about how it's really 0, which is odd becuase when they have 8 DR showing up and they really have 9 it's a major system failure. Huh.

- And then I need to do a restock pass at the dungeon, since it will have been months since the PCs last went in. I'm curious what they'll do next, but that's more a "they" problem than an "I" problem and this post is about I, me, mine.

  1. I think the only real reliable way to have an NPC in Fohndry/GGA is to import it from GCS. It can be a hassle, but you can make a bog-standard Gith and then use that as a template in GCS and have variations. Same for the Thorkers et al.

    1. I just don't understand why they display correctly under "Actors" but not when I drag them to a scene. It's maddening.

  2. Your first three things are all reasons I will never run a game this way ever. Sounds like more time is spent in game prep than game running and that is just not my jam.

    1. I run games that play for 8 hours a session. Game prep takes less time than that by a large margin.

  4. I know this is an older post, but I thought I might comment. I run my Foundry games as simply as possible. My monsters are all on paper in front of me, regardless of system. The last GURPS I ran in Arden Vul we used the Foundry tool to roll 3d6 and the players had their characters loaded if they wanted them. Otherwise it's a glorified map and token server for us.

In my current Pathfinder 1e game we use it for maps, tokens, player character sheets and as a reference for rules, spells, feats, and so on. Again my monsters, room descriptions, and notes are in front of me in a three ring binder.

I've done the prep the entire adventure thing in the VTT, and tried to use the targeting, conditions implementations and so on. In some cases my players do use it for conditions and modifiers but I have to many NPCs to deal with. It just results in too many clicks and too much time.

Everything is slower in the VTT. The less I use it, the less like a video game it feels for me. There have been times we do a step further and still roll manual dice too. It feels closer to the table, not the same, but closer.
