Painted Reaper Ape-X, Ape-X

Way back when I got Bones I, I got a lot of duplicates. One of them was Ape-X, the cybernetic super-ape.

I said at the time, do I trade one? After all, why do I need two gatling-armed super-apes?

I still have no answer to that except to posit that it is, prima facie, kind of a silly question. Why wouldn't I need two gatling-armed super-apes, if I need one?

So I kept them both and painted them. I've been meaning to post pictures of the guys, who are waiting for a Gamma World-themed minis battle or something. I painted them quite a while ago - maybe in the Summer? But then I stuck them in a storage drawer and kept forgetting to snap pictures.

I love the pose on these guys, but I have a sad fact to report - no matter how you stand them, the wide base means they can't actually bump fists. These guys should be able to greet each other like heroes in an Schwarzenegger movie. But they can't, and that makes them . . . very . . .angry.

Just saying.

    1. Maybe two levels. Down where you guys are, monsters don't bother with gatling lasers. They just do damage remotely without giving you a shot to dodge.

  2. You made their chests very pink. It's probably reasonable, but wow, it's bright against the dark fur.

I should really take some pictures of my copy of this guy, not that I'm done with it.

    1. Yeah, I went with regular human flesh tone to get a really comic-book color clash - it's also why I went with brighter metals instead of my usual black tubing and gunmetal gray paint scheme for firearms and hoses.

  3. If gattling armed apes are wrong I don't want to be right.

    1. I think if you have two gatling armed apes on your side, you are automatically right. It's in the Constitution or something.

I am pretty sure you could replace "two" with any number n, where n approaches infinity.

    1. But I only have two, so two is a good number to use here. Unless you're volunteering to get me more?

    1. I thought about that, but I'm concerned they'll fall over - they're pretty hefty and top-heavy if you discount the base.
